Glazing can be a messy endeavour. In this post we show you how to efficiently clean up your glazed bottoms when you are dipping your pieces in glaze. Remember: the bottoms need to be completely clean or they will stick to the kiln shelves as the glaze melts.  

Step 1: glaze your piece

Step 2:  Wait until the glaze has dried and then use a metal rib to scrape the glaze into the same glaze bucket. Keep scraping until the bottom is as clean as you can get it.

Step 3: For the final step, moisten a sponge and do a quick final clean up.
