Kleistone Intermediate Intensive Handbuilding Class (4 Weeks)
Tax included.
Come and join us in our intermediate hand-building class, where over four sessions we delve deeper into hand-building and decoration techniques. This class is perfect if you have already taken our Signature Intensive class or have some previous basic experience and you want to build upon what you have already learnt.
In this class you will build upon basic skills, by witnessing new demonstrations for already known techniques. What you choose to add into your work is up to you - important is we develop your personal hand-building style and you can gain more predictability in your outcomes. While every session starts with a demonstration, you will be able to then freely work on projects with our assistance.
Session 1: our focus will be on the pinching technique. Learning how to refine your pieces made with this technique further to have better control and influence over the shape. We will teach you how to level up your pieces by adding feet, trimming and smoothing out the form.
Session 2: we will spend the session on the slab building technique, learning how to push the boundaries of the clay by pressing the clay into new shapes, cutting elements from the clay to create new forms using darting.
Session 3: we will spend our last hand-building session on improving your skills with the coiling technique. There will be a refresher and with our help you will learn how to create different shapes of vessels.
Session 4: (2 weeks after session 3) will be a glazing session. Alongside our range of glazes, we will also explain and provide oxides to decorate work. The focus will then be on the thought process of glazing and how to glaze your pieces to create a cohesive body of work.

Further information
In this class, we develop our experience working with pinching, slab building and coil building techniques. We will demonstrate 1-2 new elements each session which can be optionally incorporated in to your work. Throughout the sessions you will have plenty of practise time for working on your own projects and having our assistance to help you with any difficulties.
At the end you will get to glaze your pieces using the studio glazes and overglazes. After this, your pottery will be fired and ready to collect in about 3-4 weeks. We will notify you via email when the pieces are ready for collection.
Please note that we can only keep pieces 2 months after you have been notified.
NOTE: We understand that life gets in the way and that you may miss one of the four classes. However we cannot accommodate or allow you to make up a class later or swap classes. We cannot make exceptions. It is your responsibility to ensure you can make the classes. It's completely OK to miss a class, and we will do what we can to ensure that you are caught up on anything important you may have missed.

Classes Cancellation policies
Our classes are non-refundable. Booking a class is like buying a ticket for a concert or a movie. These are specific events bound to time and place and therefore not refundable.
You can rebook a class if you give us notice at least 7 days before the event. This means that you will be issued a voucher that you can use to book a future class.
If you let us know less than 7 days before the class starts, you will not be able to rebook the class. We are not able to make exceptions.
If we allowed for last minute cancellations we would have to significantly increase our prices to account for the risk, thus making our classes inaccessible to a lot of people. While we have waiting lists for our classes, it is very difficult to find replacements less than a week before the event (believe us, we've tried!).
Yes. You are welcome to transfer it to a friend if you can't make it. The policies above would still apply.
Our studio is for adults (for people of age 18 or above).
